Production Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
Oversees the production operations, maintains the production department budget, and acts as the liaison between Production staff and the Inside Sales group to maximize efficiency and promote teamwork.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversees labor and equipment requirements and production specifications using standard formulas.
- Determines standards, production rates, and workloads based on company policies, equipment and labor availability.
- Works closely with outside vendors for Woodgrain's production equipment to proactively manage the maintenance schedule, including preventive maintenance for all production equipment.
- Reviews operational and accounting records or reports to determine the feasibility of meeting production estimates and to evaluate the current capabilities of equipment and systems.
- Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities related to the production of company products, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods, procedures, and equipment capabilities.
- Manages and coordinates subordinate staff in both the Production line and Inside Sales office.
- Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, or production schedules to determine production requirements.
- Reviews operational data such as time, production, and cost records and prepares management reports.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also indirectly supervises non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
An associate's degree or five to ten years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business and professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and accounting.
OTHER SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS
Must be forklift certified. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, CAD, and other related software is required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
