Summary: Responsible for the efficient and accurate daily operations of the shipping, receiving, and transportation departments of a distribution center by overseeing the daily activities of these personnel and motivating them to provide quality and efficient performance of their duties in a safe productive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages up to three subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 6 to 65 employees in shipping, receiving, and inventory control in addition to managing the drivers and transportation department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A., B.S.), with concentration in logistics, from four-year college or university; and five years (5) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Lean or Six Sigma experience is beneficial.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to speak Spanish is required.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities
Proficient in MS Office (Advanced Excel to include pivot tables, Word, and PowerPoint).
Strong leadership and communication skills.

- Daily activities for shipping, receiving, inventory control, and transportation departments.
- Hiring, coaching, and training of facility personnel.
- Coaching, training, and development of supervisors.
- Teaching and training of current and new facility personnel.
- Performance evaluation and increases for facility personnel.
- Total responsibility for the warehouse and transportation profit and loss statement.
- Productivity goals for warehouse and transportation and meeting those goals.
- Ensuring that the product received and shipped meet or exceed customer expectation.
- Lean programs within his/her facility.
- Creation of capital expenditure requests and costs justifications for these expenditures.
- Ensuring that safety rules and policies are followed by all employees.
- Evaluating and scheduling daily work assignments
- Purchasing and maintenance of warehouse equipment and supplies.
- Working with general manager in developing goals and objectives for the operations department.
- Other duties as requested by management.
